Carniv\u00e0le (IMDb<\/a>, Wikipedia<\/a>) is a drama\/mystery series which plays between the two world wars. The story season follows Ben Hawkins and Brother Justin Crowe, who both have a special gift and experience weird dreams and visions. Additionally the story follows the crew of the carniv\u00e0l.<\/p>\n

The setting, atmosphere, costumes, are really great. Everything look old, dusty, dirty , realistically trashed. The the costume-makers and scenery-builder did really a excellent job. Also the actors are well chosen. Especially the “little man” Michael Anderson<\/a> who plays\u00a0 Samson gives the show a special touch.<\/p>\n

The story is told extremely slow. After the first season, you don’t really know more than at the beginning. Most of the time, every episode add a little snippet, add a hint, shows a new facet and still never unravels anything of the mystery.\u00a0\u00a0 However, this keeps space for developing the characters, telling the drama etc.<\/p>\n

The show got canceled after season two and therefore, it isn’t finished. There are visions of the day of when the “false sun exploded over trinity”, which refers the the first nuclear bomb-test, but so it never get to this point.<\/p>\n
