War of Money – The Original is a crime TV series. There are two War of Money, which makes things confusing (some websites mix the two versions up). There is SBS’s ‘War of Money’ and there is tvN’s ‘War of Money – The Original’. I watched tvN’s ‘War of Money’. I think both versions are actually based on a Comic.<\/p>\n

In this series Choi Ji In drives tired around and overruns a pedestrian, who dies on location. Instead of reporting it to the Police she does a hit and run. Unfortunately some guy saw the accident and now blackmails her. If she doesn’t pay up he will report the accident to the police. Choi Ji In goes to loan sharks to bring up the money. But the bad guy isn’t satisfied asks for more and more money. In here desperation she actually asks the load sharks for help. Geum Na Ra, one of the load sharks, actually helps here and clears the situation. Choi Ji In is thankful and later joins the loan shark team. So Choi Ji In, Geum Na Ra and the other load sharks lend money and help desperate people. So they’re friendly criminals.<\/p>\n

In ‘War of Money’ loan sharks are the protagonists, which is a little strange but interesting. Our protagonist aren’t exactly the nicest people, but they are extraordinary evil. However in this series the bad guy are bad, really bad. The get money from people who own money by force, do scams, threaten lifes of families. And there a lot of sexual violence, which isn’t fun at all. The sexual offender at least get some punishment at towards the end, which is somewhat a relive. So this series is defiantly only for adults only.
\nNow how bad is it? Let me pull out some statistics. In the first episodes there are two attempted rapes and more sexual harassment. In the second episode there a rape and forced prostitution. And these things happen not really off screen. Holy shit, in a TV series? This pushes this series from the ‘light weigh fun’ corner to the ‘really dark stuff’ corner. And it sometimes seems that this series is to dark for its own good. Later on I sometimes felt like they added unnecessary sex scenes, because the already ‘earned’ a hard R-Rating in the first episodes.<\/p>\n

I like the story in of the series and the acting is ok. However a higher budget for the production would be good. The action scenes are filmed with shaky camera. And sometime you can easily spot the stunt wires.<\/p>\n

All in all, I like War of Money. If you can watch violent stuff, it worth a watch.<\/p>\n
