However lots of plugins stay close source and are only available in the commercial version. I actually don’t care that much. IDEA is worth every penny and I [...]

Also FindBugs is useful and also open source. Of course there are even more sophisticated analyses, but it catches [...]

Windows brings a huge collection of driver with the default installation. Also Windows Update can bring you driver-updates if necessary. However, Windows doesn’t contain the newest driver for the most possible drivers. So DriveMax is basically a driver check, download and update service. You run the tool and it checks the version against its repository. [...]

The channel9 v4 is now final. The layout is more clear, less bloated and also has now embedded silverlight videos. However, all videos have a WMV alternative link. The best thing is the new “quote” system. It doesn’t copy the whole content into the new post like regular forums. Instead it has a link, which [...]

I’ve recently found this extremely enlightening blog-post with a presentation of how the Office 2007 user-interface, called Ribbon, was born. It tells the story of the Office interface, how it was getting to bloated and how the office team had developed, tested new ideas until the final product. The story of the Ribbon on http://blogs.msdn.com/jensenh [...]
